How to use your vibrator discreetly when you don’t live alone.

All of us have experienced it - aroused, but nervous that the next room will hear us if we turn on the vibrator. No matter where you live, you are likely to have a very valid concern: how can I mask my vibrator's annoying buzzing sound?

First, do a sound check

The vibrator you're using probably sounds louder than it actually is. Therefore, I recommend conducting a trial run when you are next alone at home. Turn your buzzy companion to the highest setting and leave the room. What can you hear from the other room? Can you hear it in the living room? The office? To feel more at ease, perform a listening check where necessary in the house.

Get a really thick sheet/comforter.

Purchasing a super thick comforter might feel like it adds weight to your bed. Plus, it muffles louder toys well.

Be strategic about where you put your bed. Position your bed closer to walls you don’t share with other people.

It might seem strange to suggest a room redesign, but I honestly think it is worth it. Consider moving your bed to the other side of the room if it's relatively close to the door.

Bring a waterproof vibe into the shower/bath.

Your vibe may be loud(ish), but the cascade of your shower is loud(ish)-er!

Ensure that the vibe is waterproof. Don't confuse waterproof with water-resistant. “Waterproof” means the toy can be fully submerged, while “water-resistant” simply means you can get it wet when you clean it.

Block the space under your door with a rolled-up towel

Rolling up a towel or blanket to cover the small space between the door and the floor stops scents and sounds from escaping.

Drown out the sound with other sounds

Play music or put on a TV show

If you can get off with sport or the formula one blaring in the background ,have at it — the cheers do a GREAT job of camouflaging buzz.

Other good options:  Music videos, and any movie in the “Terminator” series (aka the loudest movies ever made).Buy a quieter vibe

If you’re truly worried about your roomies hearing you, avoid the toys that are particularly loud.

Though vibrations are an amazing modern invention, there are many pleasure products that don't vibrate, such as those that create feelings of fullness, pressure, or heat.

Ask for 30 minutes of alone time

The majority of people don't feel uncomfortable telling their roommate they need the apartment for a few hours so they can get off with their partners, so why should it be any different with themselves

Alternatively, you might decide not to give AF if you feel comfortable with others hearing your toy

The reasons for hiding the sound of your vibrator are many, but most of them are related to either the shame of masturbating or the shame of using a vibrator while masturbating, neither of which are things we should be ashamed of. Masturbation is a self-care process!

Keep in mind that your roommates are probably doing the same thing. If your parents are your roommates, you may feel somewhat disturbed by the thought. However, the fact remains.
